Performance is at the heart of Clarisse d’Arcimoles’ (b. 1986) practise, a French artist currently based in London. After graduating from Set Design for Performance at Central Saint Martins, she pursued a postgraduate course in Photography. During this period she started focusing on performance photography staged specifically for the camera, exploring ways of documentation of performance art works.

Fascinated by the irretrievability of the past and photography’s strength to make memories tangible, d’Arcimoles’ work depicts human vulnerability examining identity and intimacy. d’Arcimoles takes satisfaction living within the fiction she is creating, a fiction of the real world, real life, and real stories. Her work results from sustained relationships with family, friends, place and history. Interaction is at the heart of d’Arcimoles’ practise, reliant on exchange and forging new communities.
